Stand in the Light Memory Choir (SITLMC) is resilient! This dedicated group of singers has continued to rehearse via Zoom, and is beginning to transition to a unique outdoor gathering. SITLMC’s spring season will culminate in a virtual showcase, premiering April 29th at 6:30pm on the choir’s YouTube channel. This free music event is open to the public.

            SITLMC’s mission is to use the power of singing to move people with memory loss and their care partners to rediscover themselves, make friends, laugh together and contribute to their community.             The transition to virtual singing caused financial hardship for SITLMC, but there have been additional benefits, too. Residents of area memory care facilities are able to join rehearsals safely, giving them social contact during the ongoing pandemic. Family members from across the country can participate with their loved ones and celebrate the joy of music together. With our next transition to outdoor gathering, SITLMC will also continue to sing virtually so everyone can still participate.

Where words sometimes fail, music has continued to speak in the middle of a pandemic.
